BIO

A Turning Point

Luiza Girardello has also opened up about a life-altering chapter that transformed her relationship with music and existence itself. After being diagnosed with an aggressive form of ovarian cancer following emergency surgery, she underwent six months of chemotherapy, facing intense physical and emotional challenges that affected even her coordination and voice, requiring her to relearn how to sing. During treatment, she experienced what she describes as a near-death moment that divided her life into a “before and after.”

Music as a Lifeline

In that experience, she recalls seeing her life unfold “like a film,” feeling a presence, and being asked whether she wanted to continue or return. Choosing to stay, she came back with a profound sense of clarity and connection. Since then, she approaches music with renewed purpose: each song feels like a second chance. Now in remission, she has fully committed to her artistic path, transforming themes of pain, spirituality, and rebirth into deeply expressive work, while continuing to expand her career internationally.

NYC-based award-winning singer-songwriter, educator and photographer

ABOUT

An Artist Bridging Worlds

With unmistakable blue hair and a striking voice, Luiza Girardello is emerging as one of the most original artists of the current generation of Brazilian musicians. Born in Porto Alegre, Brazil, shaped by eight years in Boston, and now based in New York, she carries her music across borders while maintaining a strong connection to Brazil, where she continues to develop new projects. Her music has been described as Rock with a Latin Jazz soul.

Beyond the Music

A singer-songwriter and vocal pedagogue, Luiza also teaches voice and songwriting, while her work as a concert and promotional photographer broadened her perspective on the music scene. In 2024, she gained international recognition by winning the Jazz/Blues category and placing third in Adult Contemporary at the New England Songwriting Competition with “I See You,” a milestone that underscored her versatility. Now working under the artistic direction of singer Zabelê — filha de Baby do Brasil e Pepeu Gomes — she enters a new phase of expansion, building connections and reaching wider audiences in Brazil and beyond.
